Scoop On Billith, Babies, and Blood
TV Guide’s Natalie Abrams caught up with the True Blood cast to get the low down on what to expect for this coming season. Here are some of the highlights:
Who or what is Billith? After rising from that pool of blood, Bill appeared to be a feral vampire ready to attack anyone. “He doesn’t know what he is,” Moyer explains. “He might be able to do anything and that might be the problem.” Viewers were certainly left with several questions at the end of last season, and Clark herself has been wondering. “Has Lilith been subsumed into him? Is she still a separate entity? Is he a god? I think he’s more of a prophet than a god, but I definitely think her essence or power has been absorbed by him,” she says. But Bill’s changes will put a lot of pressure on his loved ones, especially Sookie and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard). “He’s obviously a problem because he’s red, naked and limitlessly powerful, potentially,” Paquin says. Skarsgard adds: “The question is: Is this still Bill? And what will this do to the friendship they had in Season 5?”
Jessica’s maker issues: With Bill turning into some sort of feral vampire, at least at first, Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) will have trouble accepting what’s going on with her maker. “This is really confusing for her,” Woll says. “This is someone who is the last person on earth that she has a connection to and you can’t just give that up, so she’s really hoping for the best out of it all.” But their relationship will certainly change this season. “Jessica’s always really needed Bill to guide her, and I think this is one of the first times where Bill is in a little over his head and maybe he needs a little help from her to stay grounded,” she adds. Woll also notes that things may not be completely over between Jessica and Jason (Ryan Kwanten).
War on vampires: Thanks to the Tru Blood factory bombings and the Vampire Authority’s new stance on humans, Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell (Arliss Howard) will declare a war on vamps that could ultimately cost more lives on both sides. “The humans are fighting back,” Skarsgard says. “The Governor of Louisiana has figured out a way to hurt, capture and kill vampires. Humans, for the first time, are more than just blood bags.” Among the ways humans will hurt the vamps are using new weapons on them — poor Tara (Rutina Wesley)! — and shutting down their businesses. “It gets kind of crazy and we have nowhere to go,” Wesley says. “It’s going to be intense. There’s a curfew that we can’t be out at night.”
Sookie’s on her own: Once again, Sookie finds herself swearing off men, but it won’t be long before a new guy crosses her path in Rob Kazinsky’s Ben, a fellow faerie. “There’s a little action” Paquin teases, but adds that things may not be over for one of the hottest love triangle on TV with Bill and Eric. “I don’t think anything is totally over ever on True Blood. People die, people come back, people break up, get back together.” Speaking of, Eric’s sister Nora (Lucy Griffiths) will have quite a strong opinion of Sookie that could be jealousy. “She wonders who this person is that is very significant to him because she’s never heard of their relationship,” Griffiths says.
